Plastic Surgery and How You Can Save Money

If you’re considering getting a plastic surgery procedure, finding a cheap surgeon should not be among your priorities. In fact, you should be doing the very opposite, trying to find a doctor with a renowned reputation, regardless of their price. Having said that, there’s nothing wrong with finding ways to save money even while settling for nothing less than the best. Cosmetic procedures of all kinds can be expensive, especially if you’re on a limited budget. Before you throw your hands in the air and decide you can’t afford it, here are some tips you can use to bring the cost down.

Insurance

Elective plastic surgery for the sake of vanity is seldom covered by insurance. Still, you should check with your insurance company before discounting the possibility out of hand. For certain procedures, partial or full coverage is available under the right circumstances. For instance: you may wish to get a breast reduction purely based on how you look. If you can show that having a larger chest is actually causing you physical problems, however, you may be able to get the procedure done with some coverage. Talk to your physician about the procedure you want to have done and you may be surprised.

Pay Up Front

If you don’t have the money and you want a plastic surgery procedure done right now, you’ll have little choice but to finance the cost. But you can save a lot of money by waiting to save the money on your own. Of course, you’ll avoid the interest charges that come along with a loan, but the total cost of the procedure itself may be higher if you finance. Some providers charge the surgeon fees for financing. The clinic is likely to pass these fees on to the patient, meaning you could be paying as much as 20% more for the procedure if you go through financing.

Travel

One of the worst mistakes you can make is heading south of the border for plastic surgery from a shady doctor, but travel isn’t completely out of the question for someone looking to save some money. A doctor in Beverly Hills, for instance, is going to be charging much higher prices than a doctor in Sacramento. If you happen to live in a city where wealth is expected out of hand, you might do better for yourself by searching for a doctor in a less affluent area. Of course, if you’re having a major procedure, it isn’t necessarily a good idea to force a long car ride on yourself after the procedure is finished, so use your best judgment.

How to Choose a Plastic Surgeon Wisely

As plastic surgery procedures become more popular, many men and women are confused by the options they have in their area. It may seem like there are a lot of different doctors advertising the same surgeries at different prices. Why should you take the time to research your plastic surgeon? What difference does it make? What sort of things should you look for when deciding where to go for your elective cosmetic procedure? All of these questions are important for prospective patients to address before choosing a doctor to trust with your new face or nose.

Most men and women didn’t go to medical school for a reason. The process is long and rigorous and the amount of material reviewed during the education is intimidating. As such, most men and women don’t want to have to learn a lot about medicine just to be able to make an informed decision about which plastic surgeon to select. There are a few simple things to look for when choosing cosmetic surgery and you don’t need a medical degree to do it.

First off, ensure your plastic surgeon is board-certified. This means that he or she has received the highest level of education in surgery and has been licensed by their state to perform operations. Be careful! State licensure does not restrict a physician to only practicing the medical specialty that they have been trained in. As such, an obstetrician can offer to perform surgery even though they have not completed specialized training to do so. This may account for many of the doctors that you see advertising cut-rate prices on expensive and detailed operations. In this case, it is safe to say that you get what you pay for. Choosing to cut corners on the budget by selecting a physician that isn’t a plastic surgeon may mean more pain, longer healing time, and less satisfaction with the results.

Secondly, depending on which particular procedure you are interested in, you may want to find out if your plastic surgeon has completed specialized training after their medical education. Often called fellowships, this specialized training is very narrow and only focuses on one thing at a time. For example, some surgeons choose to specialize in hand reconstruction. Others do fellowships in burns. Still others attend extensive training to learn all of the advanced and latest techniques for face lifts.

Lastly, find a plastic surgeon that you are comfortable with. He or she should be able to easily address any questions you may have and you should feel at ease bringing up concerns. This sort of two-way communication will ensure that your goals are properly outlined and will help the doctor ensure that you are happy with the results of the procedure.

Following these tips and using common sense will go a long way to helping you choose a plastic surgeon in your area. It is much wiser to take the time to do your research before entering the operating room. You will be happier with the results in the long run.

Get Liposuction To Sculpt Your Body

You have worked out. You have dieted. You have done everything you can think of to get that stubborn fat to move, and yet it continues to stick around. It simply will not go away! So what options do you have for getting rid of the unsightly fat that plagues you? Liposuction (lipo) is a viable option that may help you finally get the body you have been aiming for all along.

Liposuction is basically fat removal via suction. A special tool is used by your doctor to locate and remove the fat from your body. The procedure must be done in a controlled setting with some anesthesia, and the recovery time varies based on your individual health and the extent of the procedure. Before you think that plastic surgery is the great answer to the obesity epidemic, consider the following information.

This sculpting procedure is best performed on candidates in good health. Part of being in good health is being at a healthy weight. Lipo is not going to take an obese person and make them a thin person. In fact, you would be hard-pressed to find a doctor that does this. Liposuction is meant to be used for the stubborn fat that hard work and exercise seem unable to touch. It is most helpful if you are as close to your “goal weight” as possible.

Recovery after the operation does take a little time. Due to the nature of the procedure, there is going to be some swelling, bruising, and discomfort while you recover. Do not be discouraged if the results are not as dramatic as you hoped prior to the procedure. As you recover, your results will improve as your body heals. It is important to follow your doctor’s instructions during this time so that you minimize the risk of infection and increase the possibility of excellent results.

Like any surgical procedure, there are risks involved. Many people mistakenly believe that cosmetic surgery is not real surgery. While the risks are minimal, you need to be fully aware of them before consenting to the treatment. Discuss any concerns you have with your doctor. Most people find that the benefits outweigh the risks.

There are several popular areas of the body that people choose to treat. Areas such as the abdomen, thighs (inner and outer), hips, upper arms, and neck are all easily treated. If you have found diet and exercise to be ineffective on these areas, then you might want to consider this type of treatment.

Affording liposuction is made easier through payment plans and other financing options. If you are concerned with the costs associated with cosmetic surgery, discuss possible options with your doctor. Chances are he has a few suggestions on how to minimize the costs to you.

Plastic Surgeons: The Keys to Choosing The Right One

Millions of people across the country have opted for cosmetic enhancement, but choosing among plastic surgeons is one of the most important steps towards joining them. There are risks that come along with the benefits of enhancement, and these risks are only compounded if you go to a doctor who isn’t quite qualified — not to mention the possibility of getting a botched job that makes you look worse than when you went in for your appointment. The entire point to getting a procedure is to improve your appearance, so choosing a doctor who can provide this result is the least you can do. Here are some of the keys to choosing the right one.

Background Check

Talk to your state’s licensing board before you choose among plastic surgeons. You’ll want to have the peace of mind that comes with picking a doctor who hasn’t been the subject of multiple complaints, malpractice suits, and professional discipline. If you don’t think those doctors are out there, think again. It’s very easy to find a doctor with credentials a mile long and a record that sparkles flawlessly. But you have to do a little legwork to make sure you don’t get saddled with one of the bad ones. People will spend weeks researching the best high definition TV to buy, but they won’t spend five minutes online looking up the background of their doctor. Do yourself a favor, and put your mind at ease.

Experience

Plastic surgeons don’t all do the same procedures. Some may specialize in breast augmentation while others may focus on rhinoplasty. While most doctors perform a wide range of operations, it pays to make sure you won’t be among the rare tummy tucks that your doctor does. You want someone who does this so routinely that he has figured out every nuance and encountered nearly every eventuality. Even a child knows that practice makes perfect. The more relevant experience your doctor has, the more likely it is that your procedure will be a success.

Ask Questions

A lot of patients clam up when they go in for their consultation. They listen to what the plastic surgeons tell them about the procedure, nod their heads a few times, and they swallow their questions. This is a terrible way to interact with your doctor. If you aren’t going to be your own advocate, you can hardly expect anyone else to be. Ask questions and if you don’t have any, you haven’t done the proper research into the procedure you’re getting.

Advice From Plastic Surgeons In Eyelid Surgery

Many men and women discover that they are better candidates for other other cosmetic or plastic surgery procedures. Information is key to understanding if you make a good candidate for surgery.

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, can accomplish two things. Many people who suffer from droopy eyelids are not only concerned with their appearance but their ability to see. Plastic surgeons in good standing consider some of the best candidates for this surgery have impaired vision because their eyelids cannot be fully opened. In most cases of necessity, this procedure can be covered by health insurance. For others, they are looking to reverse the signs of aging. The procedure can be simple or complex depending on your unique symptoms.nPlastic surgeons in many cases will suggest other cosmetic procedures such as chemical peels or laser resurfacing to help restore the youthfulness of your face. If you are approved for surgery, a minor incision is made along the natural folds of the upper or the lower eyelid. The excess skin is removed or redistributed and tissues restored. Well-planned sutures can reconstruct the shape for a more appealing look. There is minimal scarring as the incisions are made in inconspicuous locations that follow the contour of the eye and eyelid. Sometimes complimentary laser surgery is used to ensure the best results.

It is important to plastic surgeons in all situations that their prospective patients are fully aware of the risks and understand the goals of their surgery. With any elective surgery, you have to be healthy to avoid serious risks. You should also be comfortable with realistic results. It can be a concern when their patients are looking for perfection. Although revision surgery can be an option if you are not completely satisfied, your doctor will advise against it if unnecessary.

Shopping for New Clothes After Liposuction

Liposuction (lipo) is the removal of body fat by using suction. Typically, this procedure is performed under anesthesia after a person has come close to their goal weight but is unable to make stubborn fat move. Liposuction is the process of sculpting the body so that desired results are achieved. Once the procedure is completed and you are completely healed, chances are good that you will need to go shopping for some new clothes!

Obviously, the area where you have lipo will determine what kind of clothes you need to replace. Did you have liposuction on your arms or neck? You need some new tops! Did you have the procedure done on your thighs? Then you are going to need some new jeans and shorts! Shopping will be much different than before. Clothes are going to fit completely differently after you have recovered from surgery than they did before. Make sure that you are fully healed and that the swelling has completely diminished before attempting to add to your wardrobe.

If you lost a lot of weight, you will likely find yourself shopping in a completely different department of the store than before. You may even be able to shop in different stores altogether. If you are unsure of your size, then take a couple different sizes to the dressing room with you. Keep in mind that sizes can vary dramatically from one designer to another. Do not get too hung up on the size on the label. Find something that fits well and wear it proudly.

Chances are good that you will need to purchase a lot of new clothing. Start slowly (it is easier on the budget) and purchase a few quality pieces that are versatile. If you dress smartly, you can expand your wardrobe dramatically with a few things at a time. For example, a sleek pair of black dress pants is a great staple item. Likewise, a simple dress that can go from office to party will be a nice addition to your closet.

While it was mentioned before, you really need to make sure that all swelling has diminished before trying to shop. If you get out and about too soon, you will set your recovery back and it will take even longer for the swelling and discomfort to go away. Also, the clothing your purchase will not fit well because the swelling will give you an inaccurate fit. If you are impatient, try shopping online and eliminate a trip out of the house.

Now that you have the body you want, shopping should be an enjoyable experience. You can purchase great looking clothes that fit well and enjoy how you look in them. You will not be cringing in the dressing room or wishing you could wear cuter clothes anymore!

What Sort Of Breast Enhancement Do You Need?

Whatever a woman’s figure flaws are, there is a breast enhancement procedure that will likely fit the bill. Breasts are an important part of the feminine physique. When a woman is unhappy with hers, it will affect how she feels about her whole body. Self esteem depends on a positive self image and for a woman; her bust is a key part of the package. A woman’s chest may be too flat, too voluptuous, too saggy, or not symmetrical. For each of these problems, there is a solution. Here are some options to contemplate.

Augmentation Operation

One of the most popular surgeries for females is the augmentation procedure. This is an operation to create more fullness and size in the chest region. During the surgery, a plastic surgeon would make incisions in the armpits, beneath the nipple/areola, under the breast or even through the navel. Next, the doc would create a cavity beneath the skin or the chest muscle. An implant, filled with either saline or silicone would be placed and the incision would be stitched up. Implants come is a variety of sizes, shapes, and volumes. Having a fuller bust makes the entire body fall into harmony. Hips and waistline look slimmer and an hourglass figure is apparent. If asymmetry is the problem, this operation can help.

Lift or Mastopexy

Due to aging, childbearing or breastfeeding, a woman’s breasts may become droopy and flattened. This is a very unflattering look and one that looks less feminine and older. Through breast enhancement, cosmetic surgeons can lift the tissue upward into a perkier and more youthful position. There are different types of incisions including the donut, the lollipop, and the anchor. Each will have a scar that resembles its name. Scars are permanent but they fade substantially over time.

Combo Lift & Augmentation

Some patients need a mastopexy as well as implants to have a satisfactory breast enhancement. If fullness and lifting into a more youthful appearance is necessary, the patient will likely require a combo approach.

Reduction Mammoplasty

A reduction mammoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to reduce the size of a woman’s bosoms. Sometimes Mother Nature has endowed a bit too much in the breast department and a woman is left looking top heavy and out of proportion. Not only that, excessive large breasts create physical discomfort. The bra straps rub the shoulders and leave indentations, skin rashes develop beneath the overhang, posture is affected, and it’s hard to find clothing that fits. Many women are so uncomfortable that they can’t even participate in athletics which has repercussions on their well-being as well.

Reconstruction Options

If a woman has had cancer and has gone through treatment which included a mastectomy, she will likely opt for reconstructive techniques. There are various ways to recreate a natural looking mound including using implants or moving the tissue around in a flap technique.

What sort of breast enhancement does your body need? There are many varieties to select from. Making an appointment with a reputable plastic surgeon would be next on the “to do” list for finding out more.

Breast Revision Fixes Mistakes

A woman may need a breast revision if something has gone wrong with her last surgery. Having an unsatisfactory result can be stressful indeed. Sometimes it’s no one’s fault; it was something to do with Mother Nature and an individual’s healing response. All bodies are different and this includes their immune response and scarring tendencies. Even one person’s healing abilities may vary depending on where they are in their life at the time.

A person who is stressed to the max, overworked, or going through a life crisis isn’t going to be top of her game. Studies have shown that people who are stressed over relationships, money, jobs or what-have-you will take longer to heal from an injury or incision. The mind/body connection is a strong one. Before having any type of operation, it’s important to take extra special care of oneself. This includes getting adequate rest, drinking plenty of water, getting moderate exercise and eating a healthy template of foods. Tobacco products are another culprit in the hampered immune response. There are also other reasons that a person doesn’t get the desired result.

Made Wrong Choices

Sometimes the patient opts for too small or too large of an implant. It’s always crucial to take harmony and proportion into consideration and to listen to the advice of a trained professional, namely a reputable cosmetic surgeon. Sometimes women have their minds made up, though, and have a hard time listening to anyone. They want to be a D cup, no matter what. If they are five feet tall and petite, they may end up looking top heavy rather than sexy. They may realize they should have listened to their doc’s advice and gone for the B or C. Other times, a doctor may recommend a C cup, for example, but the patient is scared to go that big. She may be an AAA bra size and, to her, C seems enormous. When she wakes up with her A cup with only slightly bigger breasts, she may realize that she made the wrong choice. A patient may also decide to switch out her silicone devices for saline or vice versa. When wrong choices are made, breast revision can help.

Asymmetrical Result

Due to a person’s body response, she may end up with a crooked or asymmetrical result. One breast may be high and the other low. One may be firm while the other is soft. In order to correct this unbalanced outcome, an expert surgeon who specializes in breast revision can repair the problem. After revising her surgery, the patient will be happy with a more balanced appearance. Buying bras and lingerie is difficult when each breast is a different size and position. When a person’s feet are two different sizes, he or she can buy two pairs of shoes, but a bra is connected so it’s hard to find a multi-sized item.

When it comes to breast revision, a patient can have mistakes fixed by a trained and reputable plastic surgeon. Afterward, she can breathe a sigh of relief that she finally has the look she was hoping for.

What to Do When You Need Breast Revision

Some women have had breast augmentation surgery that now needs to be altered through breast revision procedures. Occasionally, due to the patient’s healing tendencies or the past physicians’ aesthetic eye, a woman may end up with results that she’s not happy with. This can be extremely upsetting. Making the decision to have augmentation in the first place is a big one; realizing the results are not as planned and are unsatisfactory can be very disappointing. The way a person looks spills over into all areas of life. If she is embarrassed about her appearance, it will likely cause her to become socially withdrawn, anxious, and even depressed. Luckily, there are cosmetic surgeons who specialize in revisions and reconstructions.

Unsatisfactory Result

Sometimes a woman finds that her breasts after augmentation are too large, too small, or not symmetrical. After going through the operation and healing process, the last thing that she most likely expected was to hate her new bust line. A woman’s curves and cleavage are often a hallmark of her femininity and not something anyone should be ashamed about. Sometimes scar tissues form which causes a constricted capsule. This may create a deformed appearance complete with dents and an odd shape. One side may be soft and round while the other is hard and askew. Luckily, a competent, board certified cosmetic surgeon can transform these unsatisfactory results into the beautiful outcome the patient had originally hoped for.

Changing Implants

There are several options in implants. Some are filled with saline and others are filled with silicone. Some are gelatin implants which are actually a thickened, more solidified version of traditional silicone. The goal of these products is to create a more stable product. There are pros and cons of each variety. Some offer a firmer result while others offer a softer feel. A patient may choose one option but then realize she made a mistake for her own personal preference. In this case, a trained surgeon can perform another breast revision procedure to change out the devices. Implants come in an array of sizes, protrusions and shapes. A woman may end up with a B, C, D cup; the implant may be round or oval; the protrusion may be pronounced or offer the appearance of a subtle and slight overhang. It’s always wise to choose a style that harmonizes with a patient’s natural curves and physique.

Selecting The Physician

The doctor who performs the breast revision must be of the highest caliber. Sometimes a past bad result has arisen because a patient didn’t take the time to fully investigate the MD’s reputation and aesthetic abilities. It’s crucial to choose a physician who is a board certified plastic surgeon that is experienced specifically in revisions.

When a woman has an unsatisfactory result from a past augmentation operation, she doesn’t have to give up and live with the bad result. She can turn to an expert who can recreate the outcome through a successful breast revision.

Microtia: Information and Options for Parents

A couple awaiting their first child almost always finds strength repeating the mantra, “As long as it’s healthy,” when asked if they would prefer a girl or a boy. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. While there are certainly more serious conditions a child can be born with, Microtia — a deformity affecting the ear — can present aesthetic and practical challenges for the newborn. As surgery does not become an option until much later, and even then there is certainly no guarantee of having a “normal” looking ear, the child must be prepared to deal with some degree of taunting and derision. For a parent, this can be heartbreaking. Here is some information and options for parents that find themselves in a tough position.

Surgery

Many parents find themselves considering surgery for their child born with Microtia. It is a viable option, but most doctors will not consider the procedure until the child is between 7 and 10 years of age. Most surgeons believe in using the child’s rib cartilage to build the most natural looking and feeling new ear possible. A child will not have enough cartilage in that area to do a successful procedure until he has reached the aforementioned age bracket. This means that no matter what, the child will have to deal with socializing with the deformity for some time before it can be corrected.

Cost

Unfortunately, surgery to correct Microtia is seen as falling into the cosmetic category in most instances and will not be covered by insurance. Surgery of any kind is expensive. Try to find a surgeon who is not only competent and capable, but is willing to work with you when it comes to payments. Doctors understand that it is difficult to come up with the thousands of dollars that a surgery costs to perform. You may even be able to find a center that provides lending and financing for such a procedure.

Prosthesis

In some cases, going with the child’s natural cartilage is not the best approach. In those scenarios, many surgeons will instead offer the option of going with the prosthetic device. Older patients can particularly benefit from this alternative, as their natural cartilage may be too hardened to successfully transplant. If you’re concerned about the invasive aspect of extracting rib cartilage or your child has extenuating conditions that would make the surgery difficult, ask your doctor about a prosthesis and whether or not that might be a better option. For a child with Microtia, it is worth exploring all possible alternatives.

Microtia can profoundly affect a child’s self-esteem and social life. For information about treatment, visit http://www.atlantaear.com/.

Microtia: Ear Deformity and What You Should Know

No parents want to see their child have to deal with anything that puts them at a disadvantage. Unfortunately, that’s just what Microtia can do. Even for those children who are fortunate enough not to suffer any hearing loss due to the deformity, living with something that makes you different (and not in a good way) is not easy. Making friends will be more difficult, and kids are notorious for finding something unusual and mercilessly tearing each other down for it. Since this is unlikely to change in the near future, it is only natural for a parent to want to know what they can do to change the situation.

Cause

While medical science has more answers than people a hundred years ago would have ever dreamed, it doesn’t have them all yet. Unfortunately, the cause of Microtia is among those answers that still remain in the dark. Because of this, finding a way to prevent it is as of yet an impossibility. It is known that the deformity occurs during the development of the baby in the womb. While there have been cases of inheritance, the condition comes up spontaneously more often than not. While there is no one true cause that has yet been identified, some cases do come about as a result of other conditions and syndromes.

Early Detection

One of the first questions on many a parent’s mind is, “Why didn’t this show up on the ultrasound?” This is understandable. Parents feel as though they were duped when the doctors told them their baby was perfectly healthy and this is an unwelcome surprise. Microtia is rather uncommon, of course, which goes some distance in explaining why it is often missed during ultrasound sessions. Technicians and doctors are trained to examine the organs and appendage development. As the technology grows in strength, however, it will be easier for doctors to make deformity diagnosis of this kind earlier and more consistently.

Questions

As a parent, it is your job to make sure you know everything you can know about Microtia and your options moving forward. Don’t hesitate to ask your doctor the questions you have and, if he is unable to answer them, find a specialist who can. The information you should be looking for include what surgical options are open to your child, what alternatives to surgery might be appropriate, and how you can prepare your child for the challenges they are going to face. A doctor close to the situation will be able to answer these questions more specifically than any article or book you might read.

Microtia is a condition that plastic surgeons have had great success in correcting. For detailed information about the condition and procedures to correct it, see http://www.atlantaear.com/.

What Your Pediatric Dentist Would Say About Baby Bottle Tooth Decay

Baby Bottle Tooth Decay is a very real condition that affects a large portion of babies and toddlers in this country. In fact, it can affect as many as 5 percent of babies by their nine-month birthday, and statistics increase as babies head into the toddler years. The sad thing about this condition is the fact that it is entirely preventable with a little education and prevention on the part of the parents, but most parents do not take their babies to the pediatric dentist until they are in their preschool years and the decay has already occurred.

Contrary to what the name implies, Baby Bottle Tooth Decay does not require the child to use a bottle in order to occur. While it is common among bottle fed babies, tooth decay can begin any time the child has teeth regardless of the way in which they are fed. To understand the condition, you must first understand the way in which it can be passed to your baby.

Tooth decay occurs because of bacteria, no matter how old the patient with the condition is. Sometimes this bacteria is introduced into the baby’s mouth by the mother or primary caregiver. Allowing the baby to share your spoon or using your own saliva to “disinfect” a dropped pacifier will transfer the bacteria you already have in your mouth to your baby. Also, if a baby shares a cup or bottle with an older sibling, the sibling can pass on bacteria.

Liquids that contain sugar will help any bacteria in the baby’s mouth breed and multiply. This commonly occurs when the baby is put to bed with a bottle containing sweetened water, juice, or even milk. The liquids do not all get swallowed and pool around the baby’s teeth, encouraging the growth of bacteria and the eventual decay of teeth.

While bottles are a common culprit just because it is so easy to put a baby to bed with one, they are not the only culprits. Breastfed babies who nurse to sleep and do not swallow all of the milk can also suffer from the condition. For this reason, your pediatric dentist will not recommend giving your baby anything other than water in bed, and will also recommend not nursing the child to sleep.

A pediatric dentist will also recommend starting oral care the moment the child develops his or her first tooth. Simply use water on a washcloth to wash around that tooth until the child has the maturity to allow you to brush it using a brush. Toothpaste is not necessary until the baby is a bit older. Simply brushing with water after the final feeding of the day is sufficient.

Another way to prevent this problem that your pediatric dentist might recommend is putting your baby to bed with a pacifier. When a baby sucks on a pacifier, he will produce more saliva and also instinctively swallow. This can rid his mouth of the extra milk or juice that could lead to tooth decay. However, most dental professionals will not recommend a pacifier much past the first birthday.

Plastic Surgery – 5 Most Popular Procedures Performed by Surgeons

Studies show that over 1.8 million people in the United States have received some type of plastic surgery. These procedures can be as simple as hair removal or something major that requires an intensive recovery period such as a tummy tuck. Many people often choose to get these types of procedures because they want to enhance a certain part of their body by either improving it or reducing its size. If you are thinking about getting a procedure done yourself, here are five of the most popular procedures performed today.

BOTOX treatment has become one of the leading plastic surgery procedures selected by both men and women. This procedure is used to reduce wrinkles and fine lines found around the eyes and mouth areas. Compared to other procedures, it is less invasive and can be performed in a doctor’s office in a short period of time. The surgeon normally numbs the injection area before injecting the BOTOX by using small needles. Your BOTOX injection can last up to six months before you will need another one.

Another popular plastic surgery procedure is filler injections. These injections are injected into your face to help fill in wrinkles. Surgeons often use these filler on wrinkles that can’t be reduced using BOTOX. Similar to BOTOX, this procedure can also be performed inside of a surgeon’s office with a mild anesthesia. The filler can be gels and even your own body fat. If you elect to use your own body fat, the surgeon will have to take the fat from a part of your body such as your thighs or stomach area.

If a person finds themselves unhappy with their results from using some type of injections, they often take the next step and get a facelift. This procedure is done to remove loose skin in the neck and face area. It also tightens up the skin in this area to remove wrinkles. Unlike injectables, however, facelifts have to be performed in an operating room and can take several hours. Patients are often pleased with the end results because they have a more youthful look.

Breast augmentation is another common plastic surgery procedure. During this procedure, the surgeon inserts breast implants made of either saline or silicone under the muscles in the breast area. The implants are also available in a range of different sizes. Many women prefer to obtain a more natural looking appearance when choosing the size and type of implant. Like a facelift, this procedure has to be done in operating room under anesthesia.

Tummy tucks are considered to be one of the oldest common procedures used by surgeons in this field. During a tummy tuck, the surgeon actually removes all excess fat and tightens any loose muscles in stomach area. The entire procedure can take up to three hours. The end results are normally a slimmer and flatter tummy for the patient. For women, if you are planning to have a child or more children, you should definitely wait to obtain a tummy tuck to avoid re-stretching your muscles in your stomach area.

Breast Augmentation – The Top Reasons for Having This Procedure

Over the years, breast augmentation has grown to become one of the top plastic surgery procedures for women. During this procedure, the surgeon inserts implants into the bust area in order to enhance the current size and shape of a woman’s bust.

Before performing this surgery, the surgeon first should determine what is the best technique and size of implants to use based on the woman’s body shape and frame. Many women have their own personal reasons for getting this procedure, but here are some of the top common reasons.

One of the top reasons women get breast augmentation is to enhance their current bust size. Due to genetics, women are all made up differently. Although you may have wanted to have the perfect bust size like your mother or sister, you were born with a smaller size. By getting this procedure, women are able to change their bust size overnight. However, you have to remember that bigger is not always better. Although you may want larger implants, you should work with your surgeon and select the right size based on your body frame.

Aging is another reason why women elect to get breast augmentation surgery. As a woman begins to age, the tissue in her bust area begins to stretch out due to gravity. Although there are several products on the market to reduce the sagging such as push up bras, these products only provide a temporary fix. In order to correct this issue, a surgeon can insert implants to improve the overall volume and shape of your breasts.

Due to congenital defects, some women are born with breasts that are different sizes. As a woman progresses through puberty, the defect often becomes more noticeable to them. If the difference is extremely noticeable, many women become very self conscious about their body and often try to hide their condition under layers of clothing. By obtaining this surgery, women with congenital breast defects are able to feel more comfortable about their bodies and no longer hide behind their clothing.

Due to medical conditions or accidents, millions of women lose their breasts each year. One of the leading medical causes of the removal of breasts is cancer. As a treatment for cancer, physicians may remove both breasts during a mastectomy in order to save their patient’s life. After completing their treatment, many women elect to obtain breast augmentation to reconstruct the feminine appearance of their body.

Weight loss is another reason that women get breast augmentation. When a woman goes through a significant weight loss, she often loses weight in her bust area as well. Some women may elect to use padded bras to temporarily fix this problem. In order to improve your appearance, you can get implants to have a fuller bust area to match your new body size.

No matter what your reason may be, the most important thing you should remember is to make sure you are getting this surgery just for you and no one else. By making the right decision for yourself, you should be pleased with the end results.

Breast Augmentation – Considering Medical Tourism

If you have been thinking about having a breast augmentation, then you have probably been doing some research about the costs and choices to be made. While you may have come across many options, one that you might not know about is having a cosmetic procedure while in an exotic location or recovering at a spa. You may be thinking this sounds unheard of. Well, it is more common that you may realize for people to go abroad and have work done under the anonymity of a different locale. Going to an island or Caribbean destination for your surgery or choosing to recover at a spa or resort may be more affordable than you realize.

Since there are many choices available today for women interested in breast augmentation, it is important to do all of your research ahead of time so you can have a positive experience. A popular choice is going on vacation for your surgery. Many vacation destinations have highly skilled plastic surgeons as well as first rate hospitals and recovery centers. In fact, sometimes it is even priced as a package deal. These centers have state of the art facilities and experienced professionals to meet your needs. You will typically be in the hospital for 24 hours after your procedure, but where you choose to recover afterwards is something to think about. Imagine how being in a relaxing, ocean side location under the care of a licensed health care professional can add to your recovery.

Since all surgery requires planning for the before and after periods it may be worth the consideration. Spending time in a place that focuses on serving the needs of its guests, such as a spa or resort while recovering could be a great choice for you. Some places such as these are experienced with post surgical patients, so you know you will be comfortable and your immediate aftercare needs will be taken care of. You can get all the recuperation you need with complete anonymity and on your own terms in peace and quiet.

However, it is important to be aware of the post surgical experience. And, all doctors agree that after your breast augmentation, you may not be in direct sunlight or swimming in the ocean during your recovery. However, you will be able to take advantage of the relaxation a spa or vacation destination offers. And since doctors recommend rest and limited movement following surgery, having your needs attended to will aid in getting you back to your life more quickly.

While many people don’t equate surgery and vacation together, it really is an ideal combination for such a procedure. Part of a successful surgery and recovery is having a positive outlook, and if you choose to have your breast augmentation procedure done in an beautiful location, then the chances are good that you will have a positive experience, which will aid in your overall recovery time.

For women seeking a Syracuse breast augmentation, there are options for quality care in your surgery. By taking time off to relax and following the doctor’s instructions, you will find recovery will pass in no time. To learn about your options in this area, please visit http://www.drderoberts.com/

Why Dental Implants Are Better Than the Rest

When you’ve got missing teeth, it can be hard to show the world your smile. Dental implants help by replacing your missing teeth and restoring your confidence. Let’s look at this new method and examine how it’s different from other methods.

The Basics

Dental implants are basically fake teeth. Unlike your grandpa’s dentures, these are connected by the root to your jawline and held in place there by screws made of titanium. This means nothing is going to get them out of there. Unlike dentures, you don’t have to take them out or worry about them falling out.

The Implantation Procedure

Dental implants are put in using the latest technology in dentistry. First, the dentist puts in studs that will hold the new tooth (or teeth) in place. They’ll then attach a crown to the stud. The whole thing just takes a few minutes and you’ll leave the clinic that day. There is little pain or discomfort.

The real challenge is what comes after the procedure. You’ll have to be careful with your dental implants for a while. For one thing, you’ll have to make sure that the scars heal properly. The dentist will give you instructions and you should follow them carefully. Another reason to be careful with them is that they won’t have roots yet. Over the next six or so months, they will actually grow roots that will connect with your jawline. This is the secret to the method’s success.

The Advantages

A huge advantage to the use of this cosmetic installation is the durability of the implants. They are made to last permanently and do not wear out over time. Your teeth will show more wear in the coming years than they will. This also means that you can eat anything you want without worry.

They’re also completely natural looking. In fact, no other method replaces teeth in a way that looks so real. Crowns are always visible and veneers can be seen through if you look at them closely, but these offer a virtually real tooth that no one will ever guess isn’t one of your natural adult teeth.

They are also very flexible. You can have just one replaced, or a whole row of teeth. Each set is made specifically for you, so you can have it your way. They can also be used along with dentures to anchor them to the jawline. By doing this, you can make the dentures more secure and natural.

They’re also nice because, unlike other methods, they don’t adversely affect the surrounding teeth and gums. They offer no difficulties when it comes to brushing, flossing and keeping everything clean. In a few years, you’ll forget that you ever had them put in.

Missing teeth can cause serious embarrassment and lack of confidence. Dental implants offer a way to make your full, healthy smile reappear. They’re even better than other methods because they’re durable, flexible and basically permanent. If you’ve got some gaps you’d like to fill in, talk to your dentist about this simple cosmetic surgery.

Wholesale Optical Lab: Finding The Right One

The wholesale optical lab business isn’t exactly fraught with competition, but there are several companies out there promising discounts and quality products for those in the eye business. As a proprietor of an eyeglass store, an optical office, or a retail space, you have to make the decision about which one to go with. Certainly, the bottom line is always going to be cost, but without the right products, good delivery options, and dependable customer service, your front end is going to suffer and your customers are going to go elsewhere.

Cost

If you’re looking for a wholesale optical lab, you’re looking to skip more expensive distributors and go straight to the source. This is a money-saving maneuver, so money will be forefront on your mind when you make an order. However, beware of deals that seem too good to be true. Unless there’s a very good reason why you’re only paying pennies on the dollar for a product you know is much more expensive—and a good reason might be a grand opening sale or some other type of special promotion—you have cause to be skeptical about these spectacles.

Products

One wholesale optical lab is not necessarily going to carry everything the next one does. It may be in your interests to purchase certain items from one lab and others from another. Don’t take away the power of choice from your customers just because your profit margin is too low on this one particular brand. While most customers are always going to appreciate good pricing, they will be turned off if you don’t offer the top name brands they can get from your competitor.

Delivery and Customer Service

You need a wholesale optical lab that works for your situation. Delivery options are a big part of that package. If you have one wholesaler that is able to get your products out to you the next day and another that typically takes a week or more to ship it, the lower costs might start to get outweighed. Customers don’t want to wait for their orders and there are few things that will drive away business faster than a bunch of “Out of Stock” signs. Look for easy-to-get-along-with customer service as well. You want a phone number you can call at any time of the day and discuss any problems you might have. This is where a good company really shines. Don’t settle for being treated like a second class citizen just because you might be a small fish in a big pond.

Eye doctors seeking a top-of-the-line wholesale optical lab to deal with need only look on the internet to find what they’re looking for. For one resource to look into, check out http://www.nationalopticalco.com/

Male Breast Reduction: A Solution for Gynecomastia

Though it doesn’t get a lot of attention in the media, gynecomastia—the development of pronounced breast tissue in men—is a rather common problem. The sources of the condition vary from person to person, but aberrations in the body’s hormones, side effects from the use of anabolic steroids, and obesity are all possible starting points for the condition. In many cases, however, the cause of the condition is simply unknown. What is known, however, is that male breast reduction surgery is the only way to effectively get rid of it.

The best candidates for male breast reduction surgery will be men who are not currently engaging in risk factors for the condition (i.e. are not taking steroids) and have already slimmed down to the point where excess fat cannot be blamed for the problem. As with any surgery, being in good overall physical condition should be considered a prerequisite for going under the knife. The surgeon can make other determinations that will help discover whether or not you are a good candidate.

The male breast reduction surgery itself typically consists of some degree of liposuction, aiming to take out the excess fatty tissue that has developed in the chest. While rarer, some surgeons prefer to remove the gland itself, preventing any future problems with the condition. As removing the gland could potentially lead to other unwanted side effects, this is usually kept as a last resort. The condition should not return, although abusers of anabolic steroids may have to continually fight the condition if they continue to use after the surgery.

It is impossible to avoid all scarring from any surgery that involves going into the skin. However, scarring from male breast reduction is typically very small and will fade with time. Most patients are fitted with a special pressure top, which they must wear for a few weeks following the operation. This will aid in the healing process and reduce the risk of post-surgery complications arising. As with any other form of surgery—cosmetic or otherwise—the patient’s primary priority should be to find a good doctor who has an immaculate reputation in the field. Information from various sources online can help you make just such a determination.

Some studies have shown that those who suffer from gynecomastia may be at greater risk for developing breast cancer, so this is something to be wary of. Stay in contact with your doctor and let him know that this is a concern of yours.

When seeking male breast reduction Pittsburgh area men should seek the services of a cosmetic surgeon skilled in this area. To find one such practitioner, please visit http://www.gynecomastiapittsburgh.com/

Porcelain Veneers: Answering Your Questions

It can be embarrassing to go into your dentist with an endless list of questions. While no one should ever feel hesitant to ask questions until they are satisfied, it is only human nature to start getting self conscious after a few queries. Getting porcelain veneers is a major step, and you should be fully aware of what you’re getting into before you have it done. This means doing some preliminary research, talking to others who have had it done, and asking your dentist as many questions as you want. As a way to get you started, here are some frequently asked questions.

How Long Do Porcelain Veneers Last?

They will last a very long time, provided they were put in correctly and you take care of them well. Most systems are designed to last for 10 years, and even that number can be improved upon to some degree with excellent care and technique. Of course, dental techniques and adhesives are improving all the time, so today’s 10 year estimate could seem like a drop in the bucket compared with what might be around the corner.

Will Porcelain Veneers Fall Off?

In the fledgling days of this application, it wasn’t unusual for dentists to deal with complaints from people of their veneers chipping, breaking, falling off, and a number of other problems. The problems were so numerous that the procedure actually started to get something of a bad reputation. However, that was yesterday. Today’s systems should not fall off as long as you go to a competent dentist who knows how to implement them.

Are There Drawbacks to Porcelain Veneers?

You’ll have to search far and wide to find any medical procedure that doesn’t have at least one drawback. In fact, it’s probably safe to say that such a procedure doesn’t exist. Having made that disclaimer, there are some concerns you should be aware of before you make your decision. If the system isn’t applied correctly, it could leave a small bit of your original teeth open to decay. This is why it is so important to find a good dentist with an impeccable reputation. Sloppy work has no place in dentistry.

Though there are things to consider, the fact remains that there are few better solutions for a dramatic change in the way your teeth look than porcelain veneers. Put on by a competent cosmetic dentist, they could be the solution you’ve been looking for to brighten your teeth and bring out that smile again.

Want to have your teeth look as nice as possible? If you live in Denver porcelain veneers may just be the solution that you’ve been searching for. To find a dentist’s office to consult with regarding their application, please visit http://denverdentistry.com/

Spay And Neuter Clinic Benefits Of Taking Your Pet To One

When you want to prevent your pet from producing other animals, you need to visit a spay and neuter clinic. This will give you peace of mind that your pet won’t get pregnant or impregnate another animal. It doesn’t matter if you have a cat or dog, you should really consider taking them to undergo the appropriate procedure as soon as you can. That way, they won’t be at risk to reproduce and you won’t be stuck with a litter of animals you cannot take care of. There are numerous benefits to getting your pet “fixed.” Explore them below.

Keeps pet population in check

One of the biggest benefits of taking your pet to a spay and neuter clinic is the fact that doing this will stop pets from impregnating other animals over and over again resulting in multiple births and an increase in the local population of stray animals. Oftentimes, you’ll see pets wandering the street or being hit by a car or hurt in some way simply because the animal doesn’t have a place to call home. When animals reproduce because the owner has failed to take the initiative to get the animal fixed, a large quantity of unwanted pets are created unnecessarily. By going to a spay and neuter clinic, you can greatly reduce the prevalence of this issue.

Prevents unwanted animals from coming to your property

If you have a pet that’s in heat or if there are other animals that are nearby and are in heat, they’ll do all they can to get to each other. It doesn’t matter if you have a pet in a fenced backyard, animals will find a way to get where they desire to go (especially if the desire is fueled by sexual instincts). Many times, fences are broken. And if they can’t get through the fence, pets tend to dig under them in order to find what they’re looking for. Prevent this by taking your pet to get spayed or neutered.

Stop unnecessary euthanization of animals

When animals are picked up and placed in a shelter, people tend to be under the perception that these animals have been saved. While many of them are, the shelter is not a permanent residence. If no one adopts the animals, they have to be euthanized, or put to sleep. This is an unfortunate occurrence since many of these animals are the result of domiciled pets that were not properly taken care of regarding reproductive ability.

May prevent illness or diseases

When people have pets, they want to keep them around as long as possible. However, some animals can develop various diseases or illness around the reproductive area. Taking a pet to a spay and neuter clinic can help minimize their chances of developing such issues in the future. This way, you’ll be able to enjoy your pet for many years to come. Additionally, allowing your pet to reproduce can come with severe penalties regarding the health and safety of the litter. If you are not prepared to accommodate for more animals, or are unaware of the existence of a litter, these animals may be forced to fend for themselves in the elements; therefore, are far more susceptible to illness, which could translate to the home through the domiciled parent.

Hand Surgery Specialist and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal tunnel syndrome is the uncomfortable condition of unwanted pressure on the nerves in the wrist that cause a variety of painful sensations in the hand. The continual pressure on the nerves of the wrist causes tingling in the hands and fingers and a feeling of the hands being numb. Eventually, if untreated, the condition could lead to muscle damage in the hands and wrists and loss of fine motor ability and weakness.

Most people who suffer from this condition are found to use their wrists and hands constantly on a daily basis. People often suffer from the condition after years of overuse. For example, a surgeon having done years of small, fine surgeries may find himself waking up at night with severe tingling and pain in his wrists. Or, a piano teacher may find her fingers fumbling during a lesson because of numbness in the hands and wrist.

The condition generally will not go away on its own and must be treated through the work of a hand surgery specialist and therapy. The procedure involved is a very specific one due to the small, fine nature of the bones, muscles and nerves of the fingers, hands and wrists. Most surgeons who operate on this part of the body have years of additional training treating the hands.

The treatment and surgical procedure used to treat carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most common surgeries in the United States. Often the surgical procedure is done with local anesthesia. The surgeon will find a way to decrease the pressure on the nerves of the wrist, usually through cutting the ligament in the wrist and making more room for the carpal tunnel to enlarge. Endoscopic surgeries are becoming increasingly popular. These surgeries have fewer incisions and allow for a quicker recovery time.

A hand surgery specialist may suggest therapy before attempting to correct the problem with a surgical procedure. If the symptoms have been occurring less than six months, they may respond to exercising and therapy. Exercising the wrists and strengthening the muscles in the hands and wrists can be helpful to some patients, as can homeopathic therapies. Some patients respond well to acupuncture and yoga.

A good hand surgery specialist will be able to recognize and treat the condition of carpal tunnel syndrome right away. If you feel that you are suffering from this condition or perhaps something similar, start by recognizing and writing down what you are doing when you begin to feel the pain, numbness or tingling. If it is waking you up at night, try to think back on what you were doing previously during that day. A doctor will benefit from this information when diagnosing the problem.

If you feel you are suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome or some other condition causing pain in your hands and wrists, schedule an appointment with a hand surgery specialist to discuss your concerns. Your hands will thank you.

A Houston hand surgery specialist can address your lingering carpal tunnel syndrome issues or other problems related to your hands. To find out what services are available within that area, please visit: http://cyfairhandandwrist.com/

Liposuction for Adolescents

Liposuction is a solution for those who wish to lose stubborn fat deposits in the body. Even adolescents wish to go through it in order to achieve a trim body. Both male and female teenagers often have problems with their weight and stubborn fatty regions in some areas of their bodies. Parents these days often consent to their children undergoing operations such as these in order to help their child with peer pressure and body image problems.

Doctors’ Advice

For the most part, many plastic surgeons actively encourage teenagers under the age of eighteen to explore their options before undergoing liposuction. It’s important to understand that the procedure aims to remove certain pockets of fat from the body, and that it’s not an alternative to proper weight loss and leading a healthy lifestyle. The doctors do not want younger individuals to expect miracles from plastic surgery and to be under the impression that the operation is akin to waving a magic wand that transforms someone into a new, fitter and leaner body.

Counseling may be suggested for teens with body image issues to encourage them to view themselves in a different, more positive light. Exercise might also be suggested for those who are not actually deemed to be in need of cosmetic surgery. In some cases, parents might also be encouraged to set a good example concerning their lifestyle, diet and health. The most important value to instill, though, is a healthy perception of one’s own body.

For those who actually decide to undergo the surgery, surgeons will need parental consent as well as have in depth conversations with both the parents and the teen. These are safeguards that will emphasize to the teen that surgery is not something that can be taken for granted and not a cure all for everything to do with body image. Psychological issues may exist surrounding this and should be taken into consideration before a surgery is pursued.

Pros and Cons

The benefits of a teenager getting liposuction are the confidence and relief that it brings. Many teenagers feel threatened because of a self-perceived inferiority to their “slimmer” peers. Self esteem is basically elevated as well as having more self confidence in associating with other people. It is a fact of life that middle puberty can be difficult due to the need to fit in and blend with most kids in school and the peer group.

The disadvantages of this procedure lie mainly on the after effects that the body has to it. Immediate reactions to the anesthetic can be negative and can complicate the operation, although there are already some tests that can determine if the person might have a negative reaction to the drugs given during and after the operation. The development of an infection is a complication that has a high probability of occurring if the patient does not follow the doctor’s prescription and instructions after the procedure. Bruising and swelling are normal occurrences that may happen within the next few days after the liposuction procedure. These will go away in a short while but it is advisable to consult the surgeon of they do not go down after several days.

Above all, potential teenage patients and their guardians should approach this type of surgery with caution. Puberty may result in fluctuating weights and fat deposits that may shift with age. Liposuction is a solution if there’s a particularly abnormal distribution of fatty regions on the body, but in adolescents, its use is nowhere near as common as it is in adults.

If you live in northern Virginia liposuction is available from qualified doctors. Before seeking it out, be sure to check your expectations versus reality. To find a surgeon with whom you can consult regarding this or many other cosmetic procedures, please visit http://www.cpsdocs.com/

Breast Reduction and Lift Surgeries Popular

Breast reduction is the procedure to reduce volume and weight of the breasts, making them more manageable in size and decreasing the bust. Mastopexy, more commonly known as a “breast lift,” is the surgery that lifts the breasts from their lower state up into a more desired and normal bust position.

Women of all ages, weights and backgrounds desire breast reduction surgery. Some young women have the surgery not long after reaching puberty. Their breasts fill in at a quicker rate than their friends and they soon realize that their breasts are abnormally large. Many young women begin to experience back problems due to the large size of their breasts. The surgery relieves a lot of tension from their back and neck and helps them to feel more normal among their peers.

Other women undergo surgery to reduce bust size after having lost a vast amount of weight. After weight loss, especially weight loss that happens quickly, women are often left with uncomfortable reminders of their previous weight. These reminders range from saggy skin around the torso and arms and large, sagging breasts with extra tissue. The extra tissue and fat is difficult to get rid of with exercise and dieting alone. Most women have to undergo surgeries to remove the extra fat and tissue from their bodies after weight loss.

Some women have difficulty losing weight in their breasts after child rearing. Breast reduction surgery is very popular among women who are past the child rearing age. They see their breasts as reminders of days gone by and want to reduce their size, as they are no longer being used for breastfeeding. Some suggest that the surgery can help decrease the chances of certain types of cancers.

Along with the breast reduction surgeries, women are starting to see the benefits of mastopexy. Getting a breast lift along with a reduction has its benefits. In fact, some doctors will suggest the surgeries go hand in hand, encouraging women to get a lift. The lift will increase the woman’s happiness with the other surgery to reduce size and volume.

The lift is very similar in nature to the procedure of reducing the breasts. Basically, excess skin and tissue is removed and the remaining skin is tightened. The result is the appearance of firmer, higher sitting breasts that look more youthful. Gone is the sagginess and enlarged areola.

For women who suffer from uncomfortably large breasts that are causing physical or social discomfort, breast reduction is ideal. For those who also suffer from saggy breasts, a significantly uneven bust size or enlarged areola, pairing it with a lift may be the best option.

When looking into their options for a breast reduction Washington DC area women should consider their cosmetic surgeon choice wisely. Many of them maintain websites containing abridged portfolios of their past work. To find one surgeon’s office online, please visit http://www.cpsdocs.com/

The Tummy Tuck and Its Benefits

The tummy tuck is another term for an abdominoplasty. The procedure falls under plastic surgery and can be easy or difficult, depending on the type of operation the doctor and the patient has agreed on. There are several techniques that surgeons use to implement an abdominoplasty. There is a full procedure, a mini operation and a standard one. There are actually other procedures that may use the endoscopic method as well as an extended one where most of the lower back is included.

The full or extended procedure entails making an incision that extends from one hip to another. That means that the incision starts from the left hip and goes to the right hip. In some cases, the lower may be included in the procedure. The operation that follows cuts away excess tissue and skin. This type of tummy tuck is sometimes compared to a cesarean section because of the extent of the incision done to the patient. The skin is then folded up and stitched together to cover up the abdomen. The point of the operation is to cut out the loose skin rather than to eliminate the fat in the area.

The standard form of this operation is one that requires the surgeon to make an incision in a straight line between the hips. Both the full and the mini tummy tuck can be accompanied by a little bit of liposuction to accommodate the patient’s request for a taut abdomen. Repositioning of the belly button may be necessary, the same with the full procedure.

This operation is great for individuals who have lost some weight and have just a little bit of skin hanging loose in the abdomen. Some surgeons call it a scarless abdominoplasty due to the fact that the incision is rather small compared to both procedures explained above. Due to the minimal incision to be made, the patient’s belly button often does not need to be repositioned.

Pros and Cons

The benefits of having any of the three operations mentioned above include having a smooth and lean abdomen to accompany the smooth and lean physique. Many individuals lose a lot of weight but still have a pouch hanging in their tummies. This can be disconcerting in the fact that stomach fat is one of the most difficult to lose. The tummy tuck also helps the individual lose some more weight because the excess skin and tissue that are removed from the abdominal area comprises several pounds of weight as well. Another advantage of this operation is the boost of self confidence and self esteem that usually goes with looking physically fit and more attractive.

The disadvantages of the tummy tuck include the risks of complications stemming from the operation itself and the possible side effects that come after. Adverse reactions to the medications applied during and after the abdominoplasty can contribute to complications for the patient. Scarring is also another problem that often comes with either the full or the standard surgery. Swelling and bruising often occurs but these are easily treated and part of the normal occurrence after the operation.

For those potential patients interested in pursuing abdominoplasty and who reside in or around Allentown tummy tuck procedures are readily accessible. To see how a local clinic can help you to accomplish your ideal body appearance, please visit http://www.berksplasticsurgery.com/

Third, the surgeon cuts a round out of the uppermost layer of tissue at the center of your cornea; it is folded to one side. Most people do not have the genetic makeup to achieve the super flat and super toned abdomen that we see in magazines and on television. We just aren’t designed to have such a low percentage of body fat and no matter how hard we work in the gym, we probably won’t get the trim results that we desire. This type of cosmetic surgery is designed to enhance and complement your active lifestyle and healthy eating habits. It can help you look and feel your very best.

There are a number of factors that determine how much tummy tuck surgery will cost. Your geographic location, the skill and education of the surgeon, cost of anesthesia, charge of operating room fees, as well as a variety of pre- and post-operative essentials can all add up fast. Depending on a variety of factors, you can expect to pay anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 for your surgery.

Tummy tuck surgeries are available in almost every city and state across the country. However, some areas of the country have more surgeons and it is more popular. In these areas, competition may drive the prices slightly downward. While in other areas where surgeons are less common, their rarity may make the procedure slightly more expensive. How much education your surgeon has had, where they studied, what boards have certified them, which hospitals they are affiliated with, and the extent of their expertise and experience can all drive up the cost of plastic surgery. Choosing the most skilled surgeon with the greatest amount of experience will ensure that you are happy with the results for years to come, but will also cost more.

The anesthesiologist and operating room will also charge their own set of fees. General anesthesia is expensive, as is the time of the doctor administering it and watching you for adverse reactions while you are under. The operating room also has to be staffed with nurses and circulators and techs to ensure the entire procedure goes smoothly. They all have to be compensated for their time and you have to pay for the materials that are used. These costs are generally covered in one overall fee for operating room time. More extensive tummy tuck procedures will likely take longer and, as such, cost more for the time in the operating room.

There are also a number of pre- and post-operative things such as lab work, antibiotics, x-rays, pain medications or other miscellaneous costs that can factor into the tummy tuck surgery fee schedule. Be sure to discuss all of these things with your surgeon before you enter the operating room so that there are no hidden surprises down the road.

Contact a plastic surgeon in your area today to determine if tummy tuck surgery is a financially responsible decision and be well on your way to a beach-ready body in no time.

Sleep Apnea Symptoms: Do You Have Them?

Sleep apnea is a medical condition in which a person stops breathing for periods of time during their sleep. This is a very normal occurrence at night when we are asleep, but prolonged or excessive bouts of apnea may be dangerous and can be related to other medical conditions. Read on to learn some of the common sleep apnea symptoms and how you can get more information from your doctor.

One of the most common sleep apnea symptoms is excessive daytime sleepiness. Spouses and partners also complain of exuberant snoring that keeps them awake at night. They may even have to move to the spare bedroom or couch in order to get a few winks each night. If you feel you are getting enough sleep each night and are still waking up without feeling refreshed, you may have sleep apnea. If your partner is complaining about excessive snoring and you are waking up in the middle of the night to find they have moved to the living room, you may have sleep apnea.

Other common sleep apnea symptoms include headaches, a sour taste in the mouth, leg swelling, waking in the middle of the night to urinate often, sweating, or even chest pain. Your partner or spouse may also notice that you stop breathing anywhere from 5 to 50 times in one hour. They may find that you toss and turn restlessly all night or that you suffer from the occasional choking or gasping spell that doesn’t wake you up. All of these symptoms of sleep apnea can be distressing and should be discussed with your doctor.

While one of the most common causes of obstructive sleep apnea is obesity, it can also occur in small children that are not obese. Children under 5 years of age may snore, breathe through their mouths, sweat at night, toss and turn a lot, or wake up a lot. These are symptoms of sleep apnea in a small child and should be reported to your doctor immediately. The one main difference between sleep apnea in children and that in adults, is that children don’t tend to show the excessive daytime sleepiness as adults do. However, they may not grow as quickly as other children their age. The main growth hormone is distributed through the body during sleep and this can easily be interrupted if the child suffers from sleep apnea.

Keep these symptoms of sleep apnea in mind when discussing your extreme fatigue with your doctor. He or she will be better able to refer you to a sleep study if necessary or may prescribe certain medications or devices that can help prevent sleep apnea. One of the most common contraptions used to treat sleep apnea is a C-PAP or Bi-PAP machine that delivers Positive Airway Pressure and prevents the apnea from occurring.

Eye Surgery Precautions for LASIK

LASIK eye surgery is a simple procedure that can ultimately help many people regain their vision. The basic concept of this procedure is for a laser to remodel the cornea to enable it to see clearly again. The actual outpatient operation takes only about a minute or more for each eye but the preparations and tests that come before that is longer. Doctors basically test the patient a few weeks or days before the procedure and then test him or her again right before the operation to be sure about the status of the patient and his or her sight. A device is placed on each eye to prevent them from blinking and drops are placed in each one to avoid drying. Lashes are taped to the lids and a special cutting device cuts the outer layer of the eye in order to allow the laser to pass through it and reach the cornea. The patient is told to look straight ahead and to avoid moving the eye when the lights start to move. The patient will see a light in the distance dancing around and this is actually the laser remodeling the cornea according to the specifications entered by the doctor. After one eye, the machine moves the bed to position the other eye and the entire process starts again. The doctor removes the tapes from the lashes as well as the device that keeps the lids from blinking. The patient is told to blink slowly. Vision may be cloudy or watery directly after the eye surgery. There should be another check up right after the procedure and the doctor will be able to see the results of immediately after. Protective glasses are given to the patient to be worn twenty four hours for two days.

Before the Operation

Before LASIK eye surgery, doctors encourage their patients to stop smoking and to rest their eyes a few weeks before the actual operation date. For those with high grades, they are advised to wear glasses instead of contact lenses about a couple of weeks before the surgical event. Patients are also recommended to rest up and sleep early instead of tiring out their eyes by staying up late. Computer and game console usage should be limited for the week before the undertaking.

After The Operation

After the eye surgery, the doctors recommend the use of protective glasses for around two days. These are to be worn even while sleeping to prevent the arms or hands from hitting the newly operated on area. The patient can bathe afterwards but caution should be exercised around the face. Wiping the face with a wet towel is recommended for the first twenty four hours, avoiding the eye area entirely. Doctors stress the importance of keeping water away from the eyes for several weeks. Immersion in pools, seas and other bodies of water is not recommended for about four to six weeks. Rough handling of the area is to be avoided as well as the use of facial make up. The powders may lodge in the eye and cause complications. The use of dark sunglasses is also advised by doctors to help the eyes, in fact his should be done by everybody when out in the sun whether they have had an operation or not.

Eye Doctor Differences

An eye doctor can be a complicated thing since there are about three common fields that they practice in. These three common fields involve different aspects of sight and may interconnect with other in many different levels. All three medical professionals that will be featured here work closely with one another for the good of their patients.

The Ophthalmologist

This eye doctor is the one that actually deals with the diagnosis, treatment, care and prevention of issues of the medical and surgical aspects of the optical region. The education of this specialist includes four years of premed studies and then an additional four years in medical school concentrating in subjects that can be most useful to the practice. Internship occurs after graduating from medical school and then would be ophthalmologist should take up two or three more years of training. Training in this field concentrates in surgery and medical training specifically aimed at ophthalmology. The result s a medical professional who is qualified to give diagnosis and treatment of diseases, vision eye care, eye examinations and medical and surgical care. In this field there are two subspecialties, which are doctors of osteopathy and doctors of medicine.

The Optometrist

This kind of eye doctor can actually diagnose and treat some of the more basic problems and issues with one’s eyes and sight. These medical professionals are more focused on providing compensation for problems with the eyesight of an individual through the use of eyeglasses, contact lenses and other tools and equipment that can improve the sight. The use of laser treatment, computerized eyesight evaluation and other the treatment of eye diseases are also part of the scope of the optometrist. Mainly, they provide compensation for individuals for impaired sight. As patients are diagnosed and measured for their level of eyesight, the optometrists will order the kind of eyeglasses that their patients will need. It is most likely that optometrists have another business such as supplying eyeglass frames, eyeglasses lenses’ and contact lenses for the patients that they refract. These professionals work closely with opticians in their field. The educational attainment of these doctors is the same as that of ophthalmologists but the training that comes after they graduate from medical school is different.

The Optician

This type of eye doctor is actually more concerned on the manufacture and prospective use of glasses and contact lenses for the patients of optometrist and ophthalmologist. The manufacture of the said glasses and contact lenses are often in accordance to the prescriptions that the two former medical professionals may give to their patients. Opticians usually work in laboratories and workshop where they fashion the necessary eyeglasses to suit the needs of people, although, there are also some who actively work in an optometrist’s clinic or that of an ophthalmologist and is in close contact with patients. The education of an optician is highly different from both the optometrist and the ophthalmologist.

These are just several of the more common eye doctor fields of practice that are common. They are interrelated to a certain degree.

Eye Doctor Appointment

You grew up wearing glasses or contact lenses, since you were eight, nine, or ten years old, you understand the significance of your relationship with your eye doctor. You’ve been going for so long, the setting of an appointment each year, the exam, your small talk, selecting new glasses or contact solution, have all become routine. The doctor knows your eye inside and out, but do you? Do you ask questions when you’re taking the vision field test or squinting at the eye chart across the room? It goes without saying that if there were any causes for concern or blatant red flags discovered you would be immediately notified in the form of a warning, additional tests and a potential referral to the nearest ophthalmologist. Further, you may simply seek a renewal on your corrective lenses.

Whether you have been accustomed to focusing on your eye care daily, with eye drops; monthly, with contacts; or yearly, with glasses; your eye health is on your consciousness at least a few times a year. Your eye doctor helps you care for your peepers by appointment or emergency rain or shine.

But their first objective is to preserve as much of your sight as possible with the prescription of eyeglasses or contact lenses for those individuals with or without specific focus conditions: astigmatism, myopia, or hypermetropia. The optometrist or a technician can also administer a vision test to detect the presence of eye damaging deterioration due to other health concerns elsewhere in the body such as high blood pressure with also leads to raised eye (fluid) pressure on your optic nerve, which may progress to vision disturbances. You may also develop cataracts or glaucoma as your eyes age genetically. The presence and progression of these ailments causes your optometrist to refer you to an ophthalmologist, the most advanced eye doctor on your path to improved visual health.

According to medicine.net, ophthalmologists are medical specialists who have been highly-educated and trained to be able to perform all “major eye surgeries and treat serious eye diseases.” His or her occupation is to preserve major tissues, nerves, form and function of the entire eye, in order to help you see your best, and move forward with dignity.

Whether this will be your first eye doctor appointment ever or in a long time, your comfort and reassurance of the above mentioned professionals’ knowledge and capabilities is paramount. Your local optometrist and ophthalmologist are mothers, fathers, grandparents, and siblings too, so they understand that your life is becoming more and more beautiful everyday. There is no time for missing memories out of focus. Your annual appointments help keep your days and nights clear.

Dental Assistant – How to Follow This Career Path

If you are interested in working in a dentist’s office, since helping people with their oral health is a career with a lot of growth potential, then consider pursuing a career as a dental assistant or hygienist. With just a few years of education, you can launch yourself into a profitable career in a high-demand field.

If you are fairly young when you realize this would be a good career path for you, then you can take the right classes in high school. A focus on math, health, and science courses will help you as you enter your higher education classes. If you are already done with high school, consider attending a junior college to get a strong foundation in these subjects.

Once you have your high school education, look for an assistant program at the college level. It is best if you can find one that is approved by the American Dental Association or some other accreditation group. This will ensure that you get the required education and that your credentials look great on your diploma once you are through.

Accredited programs will include internships at dentists’ offices in the school’s area or at low-cost clinics or schools. This on-the-field training is vital to your success, and it can also give you the chance to make some contacts for your future job search. Once you have your certificate or diploma of completion, you are ready to start looking for work.

The great thing about this process is that it does not have to take a long time. Keep in mind that many certificate programs are not accredited.

The dentists that hire dental assistants who are just out of school expect to teach them some more skills through on-the-job training, so having little experience is not necessarily a drawback in this field, provided you are not job searching in an area that has a lot of competition.

Once you are working on the job, you can begin the process of getting your licenses in your state. The great thing about becoming a dental assistant is job security. No matter what part of the country you move to, you will find that there is a need for your career. You simply need to transfer your license or certification to your new state and start looking for a job. Father of Dentistry: G.V. Black

Most dentists and associated historians view G.V. Black as the father of modern dentistry in America. Understanding his approach to the field and the changes he brought to dental health will give you a better appreciation for the modern dentist and the role he plays in your overall health.

Born in 1836, G.V. Black decided to study medicine as an older teenager underneath Dr. Thomas G. Black, his brother. He began studying the dental field specifically under another doctor, Dr. J.C. Speer. Through the things he learned from Dr. Speer, G.V. Black realized that the dental field was highly under studied. After he served in the Civil War, he moved to Jacksonville, Illinois, and began further study into the field.

Mr. Black began his own private dental practice in Jacksonville. He quickly became well known for his excellent care for patients’ teeth. Over time, his fame grew, and he was eventually accepted as a Professor of Oral Pathology at the Missouri Dental College. This is where much of his research occurred, and he presented over 100 papers on various aspects of the practice. He also was given the DDS degree by the Missouri Dental College, allowing him to finally be called “Doctor.”

Of his numerous contributions, some of his most famous were inventions. He invented a dental drill powered by a foot pedal that allowed dental practitioners more ease of use when treating cavities. He also set forth standards for tooth preparation to teach dental practitioners how to prepare a tooth to be filled. Dr. Black introduced the use of nitrous oxide to allow dentists to pull teeth without causing extreme pain for patients. He created an excellent composition for dental amalgams, the primary material used in fillings. He also discovered the cause of dental fluorosis.

Eventually, all of this work drew more attention from prestigious universities, and he was accepted as a Professor of Pathology in the Chicago College of Dental Surgery, which later became Loyola University School of Dentistry. He finally received his MD at the Chicago Medical School, and in 1891 became the Dean of Northwestern University Dental School.

One of his most important contributions to the dental field is Black’s Classification of Caries Lesions. This organizational system is used to this day, and since his time only one further category has been added. This shows his in-depth understanding of the anatomy and health of human teeth. Throughout his career, Dr. Black helped to standardize the field of dental care more than any other man. He wrote many texts, most notably the Operative Density and Dental Pathology texts that are still drawn from today.

In spite of his contributions to the field of dental work, Mr. Black had little formal education and was primarily self taught. It is because of these contributions that Dr. Black earned the title of “The Father of Modern American Dentistry.” On February 25, 1996, he was officially inducted into the International Hall of Fame for the industry at the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an honor held for only the top leaders in the field.

Black’s spirit is still kept alive by modern dentists. When looking for a practiced dentist in Thousand Oaks dentistry options are available to fit what needs you may have. To find one practice in the area, please visit 1000 Newbury Rd., Suite 190, Thousand Oaks, CA 91320 (805) 480-9820.

Breast Augmentation – Rapid Recovery Option

Women considering breast augmentation may want to discuss an innovative rapid recovery option with their doctors. This is not a new surgical option, per se, but rather a more gentle approach to the traditional procedure.

With a rapid recovery option, the doctor focuses on gentle techniques when placing the implants. This takes a highly skilled surgeon who can perform a precise, gentle surgery. This is different than the traditional way of doing the surgery, which is quite blunt and forceful. The trauma and bleeding associated with a traditional implant procedure is what leads to the extensive pain and long recovery times many women report after this operation.

With the more gentle rapid recovery breast augmentation technique, some women are able to return to their normal activities within 24 hours of surgery, without the need for narcotics. Also, the lack of bleeding and bruising eliminates the need for a surgical bra. Implants then settle into place more quickly than with a traditional procedure, and patients are able to use their arms as they normally would immediately after surgery. This added benefit reduces the stiffness associated with keeping the arms still after surgery.

When these gentle techniques are combined with the “scarless” options for the surgery, women can gain bigger breasts without downtime or visible signs that they have had surgery. These innovative techniques are taking away many of the complaints women have about the surgery, allowing more and more to achieve the curves they want.

If you are interested in this rapid recovery breast augmentation procedure, the first step would be to look for a doctor in your area who advertises it. If you can find one, then you know you are on the right path towards having your procedure done. If you cannot, call the top-rated doctors in your area, and talk to them about their techniques. You may find that they use techniques that lead to a rapid recovery, even if they do not specifically advertise this as an option on their website or pamphlets.

Once you have found the right doctor, be sure to talk to him about the risks associated with the surgery. Because it is a fully elective procedure, you need to understand and accept all potential risks before you decide to have the surgery. One risk is the risk of infection. While this is a risk any time you have surgery, finding a doctor who has pristine facilities or operates in a top-rated hospital will help lower this risk.

Post-operative pain is another risk, but this is greatly minimized with the rapid recovery technique because there is far less trauma to the underlying muscles. Most patients can control their pain with over-the-counter pain relievers or anti-inflammatory medications. Other more rare complications include a reaction to anesthesia, leaking implants, capsular contracture, and implants that shift after the surgery. Again, it is always best to talk to your doctor about all of the risks associated with breast augmentation, and to make sure that you fully understand them before you sign up for the procedure. For the average healthy woman, these risks are minimal, and the rapid recovery technique makes the surgery far from agonizing.

If you live in Destin breast augmentation may be able to get you the curves that you want for a beach-ready body. With this “rapid recovery” option, you’ll have your results in no time. A Facelift After 80 Is Possible

The facelift is a cosmetic surgery procedure often sought by patients between the ages of 50 and 70. This is when the signs of aging really come on full-force, but it is also a time of life wherein they are maintaining a highly visible appearance in social and professional circles. This is what makes the procedure so popular among those of this age set. Yet, as people are living longer and longer lives, individuals are turning to cosmetic surgery to improve their appearance well past 70 and even 80. When you have an additional 20 or 30 years of life to enjoy, there is no reason not to regain some of your youthful appearance.

Having a facelift after the age of 80 is a completely viable option. However, as with all procedures that are elective in nature, patients need to understand the risks they take on with this one. These risks are compounded somewhat when the patient is older.

When an older individual is considering this procedure, the plastic surgeon will need to do a thorough evaluation of the patient’s health. Elderly individuals often have other conditions, like heart conditions or diabetes, that make surgery more risky for them. In a healthy individual, the risks are not much more elevated than they are in a younger patient, but the chance that the patient has an outstanding condition is higher, so a thorough evaluation is necessary.

As part of this evaluation, the physician will take a close look at the health of the patient’s skin. If the patient has lost substantial tissue elasticity, has a lot of sun damage, or easily bruises, then healing may be difficult. The patient needs to have fairly “young” skin to minimize scaring and aid in healing.

Another consideration for an elderly facelift patient is the age and health of the individual who will be responsible for patient care after the surgery. The primary care giver needs to be completely able to take care of the patient, because the surgery is an outpatient one and the patient will require some careful attention in the first few days after their operation. If an elderly spouse is the primary caregiver, then the surgeon will need to make sure that he or she is capable of performing the care tasks required, or that there is someone else in the family who can step in for a few days or weeks.

Patients will need to stop most medications 10-14 days prior to surgery. For elderly patients who have an extensive list of medications, this determination needs to be made with the aid of their medical doctor. They should not have the surgery if stopping their medications could put them at risk for a fatal condition. Blood thinning medications, including over the counter options like aspirin, are some of the most important to stop before an elective procedure.

The bottom line is that a facelift after 80 is absolutely possible, provided the patient is healthy enough to warrant the risks associated with an optional procedure. If you are considering reclaiming your younger years through surgery, find a doctor who specializes in facelifts and schedule a consultation.

Age shouldn’t be the single factor in determining fitness for a facelift Chicago residents over 80 may have their hearts on, but it should be taken into consideration. Consult with a cosmetic surgeon to determine if you can or should get the procedure. To find information about one online, please visit http://www.theartofplasticsurgery.com/

Breast Augmentation and Implants Bottoming Out

Breast augmentation is becoming more and more popular as individuals seek to achieve perfect curves and the ideal swimsuit body. Women who are born with naturally small breasts or who find their tissue has shrunk after having babies or nursing often turn to cosmetic surgeons.

Like all cosmetic procedures, this one carries a measure of risk. Common risks may include capsular contracture, a condition where a scar forms around the implants causing an unnatural appearance and the potential for pain, implant ruptures or leaks, infection, swelling, and rippling appearance. Another possible complication is having the implant bottom out.

There are several causes of this breast augmentation complication. It usually occurs when the tissue that supports the bottom of the breasts weakens, forcing the implants to move down towards the bottom of the rib cage. The reason the tissue weakens can include too much dissection of the implant pocket, an implant that is too heavy for the patient’s anatomy, or the general placement of the implant.

If the implant pocket is over dissected, the implant will bottom out within a few weeks or months. When the implant is too heavy for the tissue to support, the problem will show up gradually over time. In this case, the woman might not notice the issue is happening right away because of the gradual decline.

In the instance of placement issues, sub-muscular placement has the least risk of bottoming out. When the implant is placed above or in between the muscles, the risk of bottoming out is greater. However, placing the implant below the muscle makes the results slightly less natural in appearance, so patients will need to weigh their options with their doctor before making a final decision.

While the sight of an implant laying low in the chest may be discouraging or even frightening to a woman who has this problem, fixing it is fairly straightforward, although somewhat complicated for the surgeon. All the breast augmentation patient needs to do is re-visit her surgeon. The surgeon will then re-open the surgical area, typically making an incision along the patient’s natural crease. From there he will cut the tissue around the implant and roll it up toward the position where it should be, securing everything in place with internal sutures. The incision is then closed and the patient faces recovery again.

So how can a woman who is interested in breast augmentation prevent this complication? While it may be impossible to prevent for every patient, some steps can help. First, choose your surgeon carefully. The more skilled the surgeon is, the less likely the chance that he will incorrectly position the implants and leave you at risk for this complication. Second, follow your physician’s instructions carefully. This applies in particular to implant size. A woman who asks her surgeon to place implants that are far too large for her greatly increases her risk of this problem. Finally, wear your supportive bra as instructed by your surgeon after your procedure. This will help prevent the pull of gravity from negatively affecting your breasts.

If in search of a breast augmentation Chicago residents can look all over the internet for a welcoming practice to get the work done. Resources are available through your favorite search engine, or if you just want to find one right now, please visit http://www.theartofplasticsurgery.com/

Plastic Surgeon – Evaluating One

If you are considering cosmetic surgery, the first step is finding the best possible plastic surgeon to do the job. Evaluating these doctors is not always simple, and you need to take the time to do so well because your appearance and, potentially, your life are in the doctor’s hands. Here are some considerations to make.

First, consider whether or not the surgeon is board certified. While board certification is not required to practice cosmetic surgery, nor does it necessarily mean a doctor is the best one, it is a good indication of his or her skill. Be sure to ask about the certification specialty. Doctors can advertise that they are “board certified” when they are certified in another field. Look for one, if possible, who carries certification in plastic surgery specifically. You can easily check this with the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Many surgeons will maintain membership with the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, or the American Society of Plastic Surgeons or some other similar field. Find out if your doctor maintains membership in a group like this. If he does, then chances are he cares enough about his profession to do a good job for you. Most of these societies require a few years of experience in the field, and some, like the ASAPS, will actually check into the quality of each doctors’ work before accepting them.

Licensure is another factor to consider when choosing a plastic surgeon. Sometimes doctors practice without the proper license in their state. Find out about your state’s medical licensing board, and check to make sure your doctor has the proper licensure.

You may be tempted to shop for a doctor based on the price. Remember, the more experienced a doctor is, the more he can charge for his services. Also, the more demand a doctor has, the higher his price will be. An experienced, in-demand doctor will likely give you the best possible results. While price may need to be a factor simply due to your budget, do not make your decision based on this factor alone. If you do, you will put yourself at risk for being highly disappointed with your results.

While there are standards for beauty that seem to be universal, much of it is very subjective. For this reason, it is always best to see before and after pictures of work the plastic surgeon has done for the procedure you want to have. These pictures will help you get a feel for the doctor’s style and idea of what is beautiful. You should look for one whose ideals match yours.

Finally, look for a clinic that will give you a consultation directly with the plastic surgeon, not an associate or assistant. You want to talk directly with the doctor who will be performing your procedure. This is the only way for you to truly evaluate whether or not you are a good fit for one another, so it is a vital part of your decision making process.

When looking to enlist the services of a plastic surgeon Chicago residents should keep a wide scope open for their search. To find contact information and to learn more about the services offered by one local clinic, please visit http://www.theartofplasticsurgery.com/

Are You Emotionally Ready for Breast Augmentation Surgery?

Just because you can afford to undergo breast augmentation doesn’t mean that you should. Many women have unrealistic expectations and warped self-images that make them poor candidates for surgery. While physically they may be healthy and perfectly suited for the procedure, mentally and emotionally they may be a high liability for surgeons. So how do you know if you want cosmetic surgery for all the right reasons? There are several warning signs to be aware of if a patient is too unstable for surgery.

If you’ve always found yourself dissatisfied with your body image from a very early age, specifically your breasts, you may have a healthy desire to undergo cosmetic surgery for self-improvement. A good candidate for breast augmentation should have a fairly strong level of confidence and self-esteem. She should also have realistic expectations of the procedure, including that good body image comes from an overall healthy lifestyle, exercise, and acceptance of limitations. Most plastic surgeons can tell quickly during a consultation which women are emotionally prepared for surgery. She will have a good understanding of the procedure, including risks, complications, and recovery, as well as a clear idea of what she wants.

A trend hunter seeking breast augmentation for all of the wrong reasons can also be easy to spot by a skilled and honest plastic surgeon. These types of women will often come across as unsure and will not have performed much research into the procedure beyond the superficial size and implant options available. They will seem overly concerned with results and achieving an impossible level of perfection rather than wanting to understand the details of the procedure and its risks. Some may have already had several other cosmetic surgeries in the recent past or may currently be seeking multiple simultaneous procedures including a breast augmentation, although this isn’t always indicative of a poor candidate. A good plastic surgeon will politely decline to work with the client and in extreme cases may even warn other surgeons that they are not suitable clients.

So where do you fall in these two categories? Think about if you were unable to undergo the surgery, whether it be a decision by the plastic surgeon or for financial or health reasons. Would you still be able to live a content life or would you have an impatient fit? If your first instinct is to accept your body and move on with your life, you are probably emotionally stable enough to undergo breast augmentation. If you find yourself stricken with panic or extreme depression if you cannot have your way, to the point where you are already considering alternative surgeries to satisfy your needs, you should re-evaluate your reasoning.

You also can’t depend on a surgeon to make the decision for you, as some may miss the signs of emotional instability, or they may ignore them and go through with breast augmentation anyways. Women who are unstable will often be depressed following surgery, so much so that they seek removal, further enlargement, or another type of unnecessary revision immediately, often before healing has even completed.

If you have decided to pursue breast augmentation Atlanta is home to a number of qualified cosmetic surgeons who can successfully get you the results you want, provided you have realistic expectations. Tummy Tuck: How Gastric Bypass Patients Benefit

While gastric bypass surgery offers a great opportunity for people who are morbidly obese to change their lives, they often find themselves not left with the body they imagined. In order to finally achieve a slim and toned figure, further cosmetic surgery such as a tummy tuck is the only way. The body can only undergo so much stretching and reshaping before it is unable to return to form, which is why surgical intervention is necessary.

It isn’t even necessarily a question of vanity, but rather physical comfort as well. When someone gains excess weight, the skin is stretched to accommodate the volume. The younger the patient and the less weight that was gained, the easier it is for the skin to bounce back as the pounds are dropped. People who have undergone a surgery as serious as gastric bypass have lost a very large amount of weight, though the mass of the skin remains, resulting in excessive stretching of the skin and subsequent loss of elasticity. When the pounds start to melt away, the skin can’t snap back and people are left with sagging folds that hang downwards. This happens on nearly any part of the body but is most common around the stomach and thighs. Further weight loss will only complicate the issue more. Exercise can strengthen underlying muscle, but it will have no effect whatsoever on the skin that hangs from it.

Besides being aesthetically displeasing, the excess skin can cause other problems such as rashes, difficulty wearing clothing, and general discomfort. Some people erroneously believe that liposuction can assist the problem, but that procedure is for removing minor contour imperfections. Gastric bypass patients are much more suitable for “lifting” surgeries such as the tummy tuck. This type of surgery helps cut away excess skin that hangs and can tighten what is leftover. The procedures are quite intensive with long recovery periods and several risks, but most patients are willing to take the chance in order to finally achieve the figure they’ve worked so hard to obtain.

During a tummy tuck, an incision is made near the pelvis region, from hip bone to hip bone. The surgeon will cut the excess skin, often referred to as an apron, and then re-drape what is left to make the most natural-appearing stomach surface as possible. If there has been damage done to the underlying abdomen muscles during weight gain or in women after pregnancy, the surgeon can repair this which will in turn make exercise more effective. Many patients have also suffered from several stretch marks following a gastric bypass; some of these will be able to be removed if they are located on the removed skin areas, but some won’t be positioned in an area that can be addressed by the cosmetic surgeon.

Formerly morbidly obese patients may still have many medical hurdles to overcome in the aftermath of their weight loss, and for this reason, a tummy tuck and any other desired cosmetic surgeries should be discussed carefully with not only the plastic surgeon but medical doctors as well. There will also be risks and complications involved which should be given consideration.

Following a massive weight loss, you’ve got to do something about that skin. When looking into a tummy tuck Temecula area patients should seek out a qualified cosmetic surgeon to take care of it. To find the website of one established local practice, please visit http://renuance.net/

What Dentists Say About Mouth Rinse

Choosing a mouth rinse may not be as simple as going to the local drug store and buying one in the flavor you like best. Most dentists have a strong opinion about mouth rinses and which ones are the best for you.

First, you need to understand that you have three basic mouth rinse types to choose from: those that contain fluoride, those that fight gingivitis and plaque, and those that are purely cosmetic in nature. When purchasing a mouth rinse, make sure you know what you are buying and how it will help or not help you.

Some dentists recommend a mouth rinse containing fluoride. These help strengthen the enamel on your teeth, which cuts down on the risk of tooth decay. However, those who drink city water, which has fluoride in it, and use a fluoridated toothpaste may get enough fluoride without using a mouth rinse containing the substance. The patients who usually need this type of mouth rinse are those with abnormal dryness of mouth or a strong history of cavities.

Some mouth rinses are purely cosmetic, used to simply freshen the breath. These often work by killing a little bit of the bacteria in your mouth that cause problems with your breath. However, this effect is not long term, and the bacteria will grow back. This will make your bad breath return, and it also means that the mouth rinse has no long-term effect on your oral health. These can be nice to use, however, when you don’t have time to brush but need to freshen your breath quickly.

Dentists usually recommend an anti-plaque or anti-gingivitis mouth rinse for adults to use in combination with a good brushing and flossing routine. These will kill the damaging bacteria that are missed by your brushing and flossing efforts. The best mouth rinses to choose are those that have the American Dental Association seal of approval. This means that the claims they make to how much bacteria the mouth wash kills have been validated by a scientific study. These mouth rinses will freshen breath, but they will also eliminate the bacteria that can cause plaque or, eventually, gingivitis.

Some patients with severe problems can get even stronger mouth rinses by prescription from their dentists. These may fight advanced oral disease or keep down inflammation of the gums.

If you are not currently using a mouth rinse, you may want to ask your dentist at your next appointment about whether or not using one would be a good idea. After seeing the condition of your teeth, your dentist will be able to recommend one or determine if your brushing and flossing efforts alone are successfully ridding your mouth of the damaging bacteria and tartar that can lead to disease.

Remember, dentists have the same goal as you do, and that is to help you keep your teeth right where they belong: in your mouth. If your dentist feels you should use a mouth rinse, take his advice. With the new milder flavors on the market today, you can easily find one that you can tolerate, even if you have sensitive taste buds.

Dentists of the World Unite

Like many professions, especially those in the medical field, dentistry is more of a group effort than a collection of individuals. While each dentist is free and encouraged to set up his or her own practice, a group known as the American Dental Association links dentistry professionals around the country in order to further the profession.

Dentists are hardly ever alone when they are practicing. While they work on a patient, there is usually a hygienist or assistant at their side, and even when they’re not, they are constantly side-by-side with fellow professionals around the United States of America through the American Dental Association.

While dentists are not technically part of the ADA itself, it is a group designed to further successes and advancements in the field. The group is always there for a dentist and provides support if any problems come up.

Based in Chicago, the ADA was founded in New York in 1859 and has over 150,000 active members. The largest and oldest dental organization in the world, it is linked with 55 state and regional organizations and over 500 local societies. Its mission is simply to promote, enhance and safeguard the field and its members around the nation.

At its headquarters, the ADA employs some 400 staff members. Its leadership is centered around a board of trustees that features a president, vice president and 17 trustees from around the nation. Extending beyond that is a 400-plus member house of delegates and 11 councils that study specific areas and policies related to the profession.

The Commission on Dental Accreditation also operates under the organization’s leadership. It is the national accrediting body for all schools of dentistry as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

The association also operates a trade publication known as the Journal of the American Dental Association and features a library with over 33,000 books and 17,000 editions of the journal.

The ADA Foundation is a charitable organization that funds various causes within the field, including research and education as well as disaster and disease relief.

The association also lobbies the United States Congress and works with lawmakers and their constituents around the country to promote the causes and needs of the dentistry profession and to support its well being into the future.

Dentists themselves look to the organization for guidance on certain topics, treatments, equipment and other vital components of their work. The group’s seal of approval is earned through rigorous testing of both products and forms of treatment and serves as a barometer of sorts for the effectiveness and reliability of the subject.

Dentists themselves are experts in their own right when it comes to their chosen profession and are able to feed off of a knowledge and experience base they have earned through years of dedication to their work, but even the most veteran dentist benefits from the support, knowledge and resources offered by the ADA.

Not just Atlanta dentists, but those throughout the country benefit from the ADA’s aid. To find one in your area, or to find a variety of professionals offering their services locally, please visit http://www.angieslist.com/

The doctor will be looking for warning signs of gum disease known as gingivitis (or periodontitis) that you might be ignoring at home. He or she will check to see if your mouth are tender, bleed, or produce pus when flossed or prodded. Also, the doctor will see if your gums seem to be pulling away from your teeth.
